Insects and Spiders

I used to think that insects and spiders were only for boys.

That was until my daughter reached the age of 5. She LOVES to go outside and catch some unsuspecting bug and bring it up to the house for all to see... never once worried about the "germs" she might be getting!

My 2-year-old son loves it when she catches these creatures. Today, she even caught a pretty butterfly.

Here's a scientific bulletin board set that she would love (available at The Pointy Pencil).

Includes: 13 insects (largest 15 1/2" x 6"), 4 spiders, 17 labels, and a resource guide.

Christian Education

I'm getting ready to participate in a ladies' small group Bible study for the Fall Semester. I have a 2-year-old son who tags along with me. He stays with all the children in a great play area at the church. Some very nice ladies and teens watch him for about 2 hours.

Here are some exciting activity books that we carry at The Pointy Pencil for small children... specifically for those who teach (or babysit!) in a Bible-based setting.

These little ones can enjoy Bible-themed activities! What a fun (and profitable) use of the children's time!

Here are some of my favorite christian ed books that we carry...

We have many more available! Stop in and get some for your children's ministry today!

Carole Marsh Mysteries

My oldest daughter started 5th grade this year. Her teacher requires each student to read 190 minutes each week (if they want an A)!

Emma needed new reading material so she could get busy reading! She just started The White House Christmas Mystery, by Carole Marsh... of course purchased at The Pointy Pencil. So far it's very exciting (she's actually reading it to me).

We have this and many more of Carole Marsh's exciting mysteries available for you or your classroom! Come in and see all the different titles she's written.

Here are 3 books in this series:

Carole Marsh writes these mysteries about real places and real kids!

I had an advertising exec. from the Kokomo Tribune at my home today.

She told me that her favorite game from the Pointy Pencil is Quiddler. Someone in her family introduced her to the game. She had so much fun playing, she rushed out to buy it for herself. According to her, our store is the only place in town to buy it. She bought it, played it with friends, and then they had to buy it also... it's hard to keep on our shelf!

A hit with young and old... a quicker and less intimidating version of Scrabble.

Here is a more detailed description:

Quiddler, the short word game - is a breakthrough in word games. Because short words, like 'at', 'is', 'of', 'ax','ow' and 'zoo' can lead to winning, readers of all ages can play and win. There are bonuses for both short and long words. You simply combine all the cards in your hand into words. The words don't have to be related and you don't play off other player's words. In the first round players get three cards, in the second round four cards, on up to 10 cards in the last round. Just words. Just fun.

Sounds like it'd even be fun in the classroom... quick, easy to understand... even affordable!

Now available: Plasma Cars!

The Pointy Pencil now carries the Plasma Car!

We had an overwhelmingly favorable response to them at our BabyFest 2008 booth!
Kids were riding them around having a great time!

Grandparents and parents alike were enthused about these! They don't require batteries or a power cell... just a driver and a flat surface! You'll be amazed how easy to operate they are!

My 10-year-old daughter loves them... along with my 2-year-old son (who STILL can't figure out how to pedal his tricycle).

Come in and get one today... we know your kids (or grandkids) will LOVE them!

Multiplication Wrap-Up Keys

I went out to eat with some of my mom-friends today. My friend, Heather, who homeschools her children, said she needed to stop in to The Pointy Pencil to get her daughter "Multiplication Keys".

Her fourth-grade daughter needs help memorizing her multiplication tables. These "Multiplication Keys" came highly recommended to Heather... a must-have for any child learning to multiply.

It makes learning fun!

Storage Solutions, Part 2

This is another "Teacher Favorite"... one of those things you wonder how you ever lived without.
(Available at The Pointy Pencil for $10.99!)

Overhead Projector Storage

There are 3 panels (red, yellow, and blue). Each panel is divided into 2 pockets... to keep all those little accessories separate!

With its adjustable belt, it will fit ANY projector.

As a teacher at our church, I'm thinking about all the times I've gotten the projector out of the supply closet... then searched for markers to use with it. For elementary teachers, the storage is handy for all those shapes and teaching tools.

What convenience! Every teacher should have access to this time-saving storage solution.

Here's a recent "testimonial" from a friend of mine... an additional idea for those incentive charts we carry at The Pointy Pencil!

"marcie! i have to tell you...i got nic some incentive charts and stickers at the pointy pencil and he LOVES them! we got a sea theme for him to use for potty training. they are awesome! we love the store!"

Here are the sea life stickers and chart...
Isn't she a creative mom to think of potty training with our incentive charts?
Thanks for your input, Sarah!

Your decorations will look crisp and fresh when you go to use them next year.

Next, we have a neat and easily-accessible way to store borders!
